Hi Jane, you must be Ally's PORSE friend. I have heard a lot about you. Will have to meet you soon and I have started on my organic produce journey (when I moved to my house last June) but I have so much more to learn and know about. Looking forward to meeting you. Julie
Hi Julie, nice to talk with you. We are also a drop off point for Toms milk. He drops to us after Te Puke every friday.. Look forward to meeting you. I might come for a drive and bring Ali perhaps?

Take some freshly milled rye or wheat mixed to a wet paste with either spring water, grape juice or apple juice in a covered bowl to your favorite spot in the in the bush or somewhere natural, take the lid off and place the bowl somewhere safe the leave for 10-15 minutes. Then give a good stir, cover, bring home and let it grow following the standard procedures. I have found that the flavor varies subtly depending on your location. The use of fruit and herbs are well worth experimenting with! Have fun with sourdough!

Permalink Reply by Doreen Baumann on January 24, 2012 at 12:06pm Hi, I'm in Red Beach (Auckland area) and am looking for a Kombucha scoby, some Caspian sea yoghurt starter and milk kefir grains. I'm happy to swap for some organic rye sourdough starter, plenty of water kefir grains and some viili yoghurt starter, a jar of Sauerkraut or some hops root (in a few weeks time). Cheers:)

Permalink Reply by Lisa Welbourne on February 2, 2012 at 10:33pm Hi there, I am after water kefir grains, milk kefir grains and a kombucha scooby please.
I have a dehydrator and frequently dehydrate bananas and tomatoes and I also ferment my own kraut.
I'm happy to swap any of these for the kefir grains and scooby, or I can simply pay the postage costs or pick up if anyone can offer me some. Thanks very much.
Hi Lisa, good on your for getting your own kraut going. Where abouts in NZ are you?
I've just seen from your profile you are in Auckland. There are sure to be some locals who could help you out. I'm in Tauranga until the end of the month. I have kombucha scoby and milk kefir grains to spare, but maybe someone closer has some to spare. Happy Waitangi weekend, Susan.
