I don't have any old combs as it is my very first beehive.  I will definitely do that with the lemongrass oil though.  Cheers.

If you have some old used combs that's a good attractant.

As for the lemon grass oil, put it on a folded paper towel in a small plastics bag with some holes in it.

This will make the oil last longer.

Can I use a brand new hive as a bait hive?  And if so - does anyone have any tips or ideas?  I have the lemongrass oil ready to go in.

Thanks. I should have got it from Bee club but by the time I heard from Paul that they had some in stock I had paid twice as much as I needed to from Ceracell. In any even the new hive is up and running.

Nicholas, both plastic & steel mesh is available from Ceracell.

Nicholas, The Auckland bee Club sell it to members. We sell it but its attached to our Meshboards :) Thanks...Gary

Hi Nicholas - the mesh I use is steel whitebaiting mesh that you can get from any rod and gun shop.
