Hi Jane

Your seed ball making proposal was good; if there was more advance notice then I probably could've been there.

Will you/they do it again?

Kia ora koutou,

In response to Steven's question about the group getting active again,

I'd like to be part of a Christchurch Permaculture group that meets up face to face and shares resources like plants, seeds, tools, skills, DVD screenings, permaculture knowledge, and potlucks.

I’ve been inspired by a group in Dunedin that have recently started Permablitzing (Permaculture garden makeovers) and would be keen to see something similar happening here in Otautahi (as was suggested on here last year). For info on the Dunedin Permablitz See:

http://www.permaculture.org.nz/node/881

I’m sure there are people in this group with skills in permaculture design, building pizza ovens, bee keeping, water harvesting, etc. - skills that could be shared among the group as we moved from backyard to backyard working together to build a more abundant and resilient Christchurch.

Is anyone else keen?

From these people I've learned of the great benefits of allowing so-called "weeds" to grow, and consuming these weeds in some particular ways that are tasty and easy.  Makes gardening so much easier, and makes your health and wellbeing so much better!

Free Weekend Food Forest Workshop  (Project Lytelton)

A Food Forest Workshop is the next in our "Localising Food" series

This will be a two day workshop taking place in Lyttelton on 10 & 11 of November.

The aim when designing and creating a food forest is primarily to provide diversity of food for our needs; however this gardening arrangement brings more than just that. In food forests plants not only complement one another but the whole ecosystem. They create unique microclimates and attract beneficial soil biota, insects and animals for healthy ecosystem development. When grown together these plants make efficient use of space and resources requiring little input from humans.

This event is sponsored by Project Lyttelton and is free of charge.

Please RSVP to my email: nina@lyttelton.net.nz if you'd like to join. Be in quick as spaces are limited.

Might see you there :-)

This event (flyer image below) will greatly interest those of us interested in growing or wild-harvesting food.  And those of us interested in improving our health and wellbeing.

I'm really looking forwards to it - only 7 days away!

Comment here or Message me directly if you want more info.

Hey everyone,

I expect to be active here again, with this page and this group.

Are there particular things that any of you want, in terms of permaculture things in Christchurch?
