Philips Design recently completed a design probe looking at the future of food. The project investigated how we might eat and source our food 15-20 years from now. The research led the designers to create three projects which solidified their ideas. Watch the video!

Thank you Margaret. Wes is doing good and rehab is sure a big help. He's still doing this at home and they plan on starting him as an outpatient on December 6th. He's had a few rough nights with pain on the right side of his body. It's his brain trying to reconnect with his limbs and the nerves are all wacky. The doctor's warned us that this might be a painful experience for him. Speech is improving but the Aphasia and Apraxia of Speech is very difficult to deal with. There are times when we both crack-up laughing when he pops off with somethings totally off the wall. Sure beats the heck out of crying! We have been able to move our bed back downstairs and with therapy he has conquered going up & down the stairs. He has to go down backwards with a safety belt on and me standing guard with each step. Same thing going back up. Prior to walking, he had to be fitted with a right foot/leg brace, the muscles in his foot want to curl causing his foot to turn on it's side. He's also having the same problem with his right arm and hand and requires a night brace. It's been tough on him. We are having our first snow of the season, the fire is going and we are snuggled up with our 3 kitties. We have started playing cards with each other, I taught Wes how to play Gin Rummy and Wes has become a very player!

Hi Sheri and wes, my thoughts are with you at this challenging time. l have just finished reading a book by Jill Bolte Taylor " My Stroke of Insight". She was a 37 year old Harvard trained brain scientist when she had a left sided stroke. Because of her training she was able to understand what was happening and has recorded her journey to recovery. Hello All! It has been a very tough week. My husband is such a a gentle souled fighter and has made such wonderful progress. He's not use to being out of control of his life and I think that is what upsets him the most. It's very important that he relaxes and watching t.v. really helps him in word recall. He has what is called "Aphasia", trouble thinking of words and "Apraxia of speech", which is the motor planning of words. He knows what he wants to say, he just has a hard time spitting it out! So much has returned and he is reading words again and also playing Solitaire. Wes does have right side paralysis, he still can't feel his right arm but has now been able to get some function back into his right leg. The next 6 months are going to be the hardest for him but they are also the months where the miracles begin with rehab.
