Permalink Reply by Ruth OSullivan on March 27, 2012 at 8:44pm Im my experience, i grow carrots like mad so they are a good size for when the frosts come and nothing grows...they will last absolutely fine in the winter ground until the spring growth starts..then they start sprouting and going up to seed, thats when they go woody. Hope that snippet helps?

thanks for your reply. You know, thinking on it, it was a winter batch going into spring that went woody, not a summer batch into winter! Thanks for getting my facts straight.
