There are sooooooo many varieties. We like to grow something a bit different that isn't available in the shops. Grew Black Krims last year, they weren't a family fave. Any recommendations???

If you have room try growing a few varieties. Brandywine Pink would be my favourite beefsteak type, although I do quite like the black tomatoes as well. Riesenstraube always does well for me for cherry type tomatoes and I like to grow at least one Italian type for sauces - San Marzo is my current favourite. I also quite like Russian Red - it tastes fine but I prefer it more because I find it hardy and reliable cropper than for its taste. I have these varieties plus a few others free if you'd like to try them :)
Green Sausage is a beaut. It has lots of tasty fruit, looks a bit different (elongated, green and stripey) and the plants are healthy. Another lovely, yummy, green tomato that is prolific and easy to grow, is Lime Green Salad.
For flavour in sandwiches, I really like the Brandywine tomatoes.
Thought I'd add that although I found Green Sausage to be healthy and disease free, it always looks a bit strange, as if its a bit of a weak and droopy plant, but this is just the way it grows, and it fruits really well.
