Horse poo

The Waikato Equine Centre says you can collect some horse poo from them, free of charge.In fact if you phone them first they will arrange for a tractor to load your trailer.
Also Trent Overtone says you can collect from him too. His number is 8243058. He lives at 546 Piaka Rd ( somewhere between Hamilton and Gordonton).

Manure is the best. Here's a chance to keep the community thing going and work in a mutually beneficial way with the equine folk.

Great! Do you know if they have set amounts? I rent, and the sum total of my 'garden' is approx 3m2 (one laundry tub, several large containers, and a bunch of pots.)
Unrelated: does anyone know how to encourage worms in small containers? I've 'seeded' my tub twice now, but the critters just run away!

Horse poo:-I only collect a bucket or three each time I go. I introduced myself at the reception and they showed me to the field across the road, where there are two large piles of it.(they are on Pukete rd) If you only have a container garden, best find out how best to use poo in them Environment Centre in Ward st will help you.

Worms:-What worms are these? If they are earthworms then don't expect them to stay in a tub. Best get tiger worms, which only survive in a tub because the ground outside is too cold for them.You can but them somewhere(Possibly Environment Centre, Ward st They will also be able to provide you with the correct info as to how to keep them.) or I am in Glenview if you would like to collect some from me.
BUT ,If you need worms in your container garden,that's a whole other story. Again, ask at Environment centre. Also there are some container garden books at the library.

You will need to plant into compost as thats what the worms eat and you will have to make sure the containers do not get too dry.

Great!I have been after two people to get me some but no response.Maybe they don't want to part with.This poo is it completely rot so no dirty smell i cannot bring my hubby to collect it if it smells. If I eventually get some what to do with it,

Hi Cushi,
I sometimes soak the poo in liquidfirst but in winter I simply use it straight as a mulch on the garden and then it is pretty much ready by summer.
