Hi there, would anyone be interested in some near lay pullets.  I have 5 I can sell and would like $15each for them.  They are all black orpington crosses, but on the small side like their Mum's.  So a nice back yard sized chook.

If the rain lets up tomorrow I can post some pictures on my profile.

I'm not in a great rush to part with them, but I need to down size the big birds as two hen's turned up a few weeks ago with unexpected chicks, so I have more mouths to feed.

Hi Sarah, got more leaves for you here if you run out... I use them as litter in my chook house throughout the year and find them satisfactory and soon 'enriched' with manure for garden/tree mulch.

I would be a starter for a session to learn some basics. I have tried to make some bread in the past but the results have been very average

Also, re bread, I am currently making sourdough. I don't personally want to be part of a bread circle, but I'm happy to share what I know. I am making my sourdough in a breadmaker, so it only takes about 5mins to set up and the machine does the rest (I put it on the 'dough' setting int he morning or evening, then switch the machine off and leave it to rise overnight or for the day, then hit the 'bake' button). I already have a nice starter if anyone wants some (its easier than starting your own starter - also, the first started I tried making was Very sour. The starter I have now I got from a friend and is much more mild).

Hi Susan and Isa, thanks for the info on leaves. Ended up getting some today from outside a friends place where they were piling up in the roadside gutter.

Hi Sarah, whilst on campus yesterday I noticed plenty of leaves under various trees. I think the trees off Gate 2a? would be a good place to start!

I also missed the program, but love the idea of a bread circle. I don't have much experience  but would be keen to learn.

I missed last nights show but I would love to be part of a bread making circle. I make a reasonable amount of our own bread and I think it would be a fun activity to do as a group :0) I'm not making sourdough right now but have made it in the past and was just thinking about making a new starter as husband chucked the last one without asking what it was...

I'm interested in exchanging bread-making knowledge with people -- I make all my own bread, but have had no success with sourdough and would love to see how it's done from an expert.  Better than trying to learn from a book!


I haven't seen the show you're talking about, Flora, but making bread as a group DOES sound wonderful.  Things that are tedious and exhausting done alone, like baking and jam-making, are fun as a social activity.
