Shocked at the price of buying seeds lately....so looking for interesting  vege seeds or young plants to grow this season ... anyone out there with anything ??

Hi Helen you were asking about seeds and where to buy? I go to Kings Seeds nz website. Or if you just want a couple of packets Green Door Havelock North sells them too. Good luck. Oh the hay, I would use it as mulch, especially around any fruit trees that you plant this coming winter.

Happy new year to you too Hester, -I  hope all members are starting the year in grand fashion !! Any hints for what to use half a bale of straw for at this time of year that is currently sitting in my garage. It is time it was out of there....all ideas welcome, cheers helen

Thanks for hosting the meeting Meredith...it was fantastic to see what you have achieved in just a year. The setting is lovely and the company was excellent. A great turnout. And of course, the food was great too...pot lucks always seem to turn out 'just right'. For those of you whom I don't catch up with before Christmas, have a great one and a safe holiday and I look forward to seeing you all at the January meeting.

I have a few hundred (you think I'm kidding) walnut tree saplings. If anyone would like some (as many as possible PLEASE) I will bring them to the next meeting on Nov 14.

What does anyone think of having a "library"of members books/articles about gardening and associated topics which we could swap and return at meetings. I have quite a few books I would be happy to contribute - gardening, recipes, aromatherapy et al.
