We just got a couple of arucauna pullets and they've been settling in nicely - but I've noticed one of them keeps shaking her head sideways as though she had something in her ear. Any suggestions what might cause this? (hope it's not serious, we like our new hens)!

thanks for suggestions, I'd like to try the diatomacious earth and we already have neem; I know the birds were drenched on the day we got them, I'd hoped that would deal with any mites but maybe not... I'll check for mites/lice today.
Sounds like mites or lice - dust with pestene or use 1drop of ivemectin pour-on drench per kilo of body weight on the bare skin under the wing. Treat all the birds.
You could also try putting Diatomacaous Earth in the dust bath and on the perches, and spraying the hen house with a Pyrethrym/neem spray.
