I have a mixed breed grey bantam, a brown shaver, a lavender auracana, and a plymouth barred rock :-) all in my backyard in luxurious accommodation.
:-) We live right in Hamilton East on a small property. I'd like to move to the rural fringes and have more animals.

We're not exactly urban more rural fringe, but we're brand new to the chooky thang. Went to the local Gisbonre livestock auction on the weekend but by the time we got there all the birds had been snapped up. The next auction isn't til May 30. You should've seen the selection though - some beautiful birds. Our neighbours have brown shavers with some Black Orpington pullets and a rooster - thus the need to chook-proof the garden as they roam quite a bit which is cool. We intend getting 4 hens - it'll be interesting keeping the 2 broods separate.
