I've just dug up quite a few roots of Russian Comfrey if anyone wants some. Probably local (Hastings/ Napier ) is easiest but I could mail it if anyone really wants.

Hi to everyone who has requested comfrey. Sorry for the slow progress. I dug some roots this afternoon and will work on getting some packaged up and sent out this week.
Hi to all comfrey hunters.
Russian comfrey only spreads by roots not seed. If you confine the roots or plant it where you want it long-term and don't try moving it, it doesn't spread far or quickly.
You do need a good sized space for it tho as it wiil gradually spread outwards.
I'd say about a square metre.
It is sometimes planted around fruit trees to draw nutrients up from deep in the soil.
I made the mistake of trying to move my comfrey patch and couldn't get all the roots out so now it still comes up in the old area.
It isn't a big problem I just dig it out as much as i can when it pops up and it doesn't bother the other crops i plant in that space.
Anyway. I've checked and there are more shoots coming up so if you message me or leave a comment on my page, with your address , I can send you a few roots. I probably won't get on to it until this weekend.
