Garlic wanted

I am looking for garlic cloves to plant. I know it's way to early to plant, but since they should be fresh out of the ground, I figured someone might have some spares. I am not picky as to what kind. I had to move mid season last year and lost all my garlic.

  • you can plant garlic any time of the year. The old plant on the shortest day, harvest on the longest came from the UK where the growing season is so much shorter.

    • Is there a time of year that ows better or bigger garlic in NZ?
    • I find it is the variety that is the big difference. Of course it also depends on your land. If are going to have your garlic ripening in heavy wet clay that floods in the middle of winter, that obviously is not going to help, but the same garlic could do very well in a raised bed with lots of free draining compost. I am going to be chucking some into the ground in the next few days as

a)the bloody pukekos have disappeared off, so can't pull it out

      b) I didn't grow as much as I usually do this year, because said pukekos pulled it out!
