We are only 6 in this group but what would we like to do ?
I'm happy to kick it off and meet one day in my garden and bring ideas.
any particular day, time what about saturday or sunday morning or afternoon?

What if you folks who have been to this composting course, tell us about the system you have been taught?
I have two bins - just got underway here, though I've done it before in other gardens. I have a list of ratios, green/brown for various different materials - coffee grounds count as green because of the high nitrogen, and that is 12:1 coffee : untreated sawdust. Other materials such as food scraps and lawn clippings it's lower, like 7 : 1 and such, and dry leaves are higher volume than sawdust in the ratios.
What was the system you were taught?

Hi all! Cheers Lisa for starting up this group. I'm pretty active in my own garden, mulching, put down garlic and transplanted a feijoa. And I dug a hole for a persimmon which I haven't got yet! So lovely to work outside in
the sunshine. Just wondering what flowers people have in their gardens?
If there was a community garden local I'd love to be involved too....

Hi Helga
TT stands for Transition Town Point Chevalier. Sorry for assuming that it is known to many. The TTPC garden group meets every 1st Sunday of the month in a member's garden, usually from 3-5pm during winter and 4-6pm during daylight saving. We also operate the Community Garden at the Old Homestead at 92 Pt Chev Rd. We have done some composting workshops and currently planning the rainwater irrigation system. During winter we often meet Saturdays at 1pm and some meet Sudnay mornings at 9am but that is definitely not my time. Please come along if you are interested. E.

Good morning. Lisa just introduced me to the Sandringham garden group. I am quite interested. I am part of the TT Pt Chev as the TT Sandringham group has seized their existence last thing I know. I am part of the TTPC gardening group but would love to have some more contacts closer by, too. I am in Fergusson Ave. Cheers, Ellen

The raised beds are a bit of a pain, but the soil is really shallow over a gravel pit, so they seemed the best choice. I will be removing small volcanic rocks from here until the day I die or leave! What soil there is, is really beautiful volcanic soil, though.
I too am a keen composter - I have 2 wooden bins from Bunnings only since I got the shed out of the way, but have done it for years in my last garden in Balmoral Rd. I have also been getting coffee grounds for the garden and the compost - they are great for adding humus to the powdery soil, and contain a lot of nitrogen. Happy to show you sometime when it's a bit less wet!

Looked at your blog and saw your lovely garden with raised beds and pebbles, similar to what we have done and am wanting to make more garden space but after the dirt doctor workshop am now rethinking raised beds, they do look nice though and I like sitting on the edges, rather than bending.
