I was about to suggest the same place Josephal, we used to get them from there for burning in pottery firings. Usually they are untreated so ok for gardens.

I'd have a look around your local industrial areas. So Onehunga area would be a good place to start.

where do you get your magical pallets from?  We live next to Cornwall Park in Auckland, and i'd love to know where to get them from for some upcoming garden projects.

On pallets, I break them down into planks and use them for walking on in the garden. We have alot of birds around that like to pull spring onions out and peck seedlings etc. I got some sate skewers from the $2 shop and black cotton and set them all around my seedlings. Put my broadbeans in couple weeks ago so far its working a treat.

Egg Cartons great seed trays, I planted up my Koanga and Eco seeds today that arrived in the mail. Even though the weather snowy I have them in a container with a lid for protection..  Should have lots of plants for the butterfly garden and vege garden. They are on the porch, out of the snow.

What a cold wet miserable weekend here in NorthLand. did some gardening, planted a few seeds [indoors] and a bit of weeding until my hands were too cold.

I have made one raised bed to host 1 damson plum tree using a pallet.  We have a lot of water on our property so it has to be raised for draining purposes. One down, 3 more to make to host yet another damson plum, greengage & a yellow ogan plum.

pallets are one of those resouces that can be recycled in many ways. Making composts is the most common as they are so easy to arrange into a three sided bay then simply chuck all of the garden material/waste in and hey presto - compost. I have put one by the garden tap, painted it, added a couple of hooks and hang the hose on it. They are great to store things on if they need to be off the ground. If you have a nail puller pallets can be taken apart. How about a picket fence around your garden? What about a bird house? I dismantled the cooker from a bbq and created a a garden table on wheels with recycled pallets.  They are great - I need to go out and get some more!!

Oooooh, convolvulus ! ! ! !   Horrible stuff and very hard to get rid of as each and every little bit will grow.

Spent the weekend transplanting out sugar snap and snow peas, Bok choi and Kale and cover them with cut down coke bottles till the frosts and winds die off again. Have more seeds popping thru each day but many will remain in the tunnel house for some early crops as the garden has been raided by the chooks just as much as by us this winter
