Beautiful sunny day today - and I spent it all inside doing bookwork!!!!
Well that lovely sunny morning didnt last long - down came the rain at mid day so my gardening plans shelved until tomorrow.
Heading outside to plant 9 more fruit trees. 2 Golden queen peach, black boy peach, bately peach, montys surprise apple, Whakapirau Gold/yellow plum, quince & a Macqui Berry tree. Poor hubby has been roped into helping me with the lot heheheh. We are raising them above ground which will be better for drainage. Sheep pellets, homemade compost, wheel barrow, spade & gumboots & off we go!
LOL @ 'waiting on the moon', Kali.....me too! Roll on Monday and Tuesday. I have parsnips, carrots and beetroot to sow. Then a nice long break until after I have been up north later in the month before I can sow more 'above ground' seeds. Looking forward to the trip first though :)
Comment by Kali on August 4, 2012 at 10:28am just spent a lovely hour poring over the new kings catalogue I am such a compulsive seed saver you might think I would have all the seeds I could ever grow but no, my wishlist is still quite long! the weather is so mild here, the bones have thawed and the seed sowing bug has started to bite, got some lettuce, sweet peas, spinach, peas, and cress in and waiting on the moon now so will happily spend the weekend preparing more space.
Looks like a another day i paradise - sun sun sun !!! So I am off the Mitre10 to spend a voucher - oh what to buy!!?? Seeds? Fertiliser? Tools? Coffee? Impulse buying - thats the way to deal with these things.
I'm Back off and on been busy with other ventures and been neglecting Ooooby and my own garden for the winter months time to get busy on the dry days and clean it all up for spring
Comment by Lorraine Barnett on July 29, 2012 at 11:04pm Yesterday finally moved the grapevine. Mmmm not sure how it will take to that but it's roots were heading under the house so had to really. Cut the root and need to prune now, should have done that yesterday too but couldn't find secators... Must been hiding round the garden where I last left them. Great to read that you are seed planting, good on you all!
Another sunny day (unexpected, but VERY welcome!) Have sown broad beans and sugar snap peas in tubs. On my veranda, under a healthy and protective layer of glass, I have sown 2 varieties of egg plant, 4 varieties of capsicums, and 2 varieties of tomatoes. I will sow more tomatoes at the end of next month. Bring on spring!
Yup, kidding hehe. But we will want photos once they're all in bloom.
