cds work plastic shopping bags tied on string works as well at least with keeping seaguls off the boat when it is moured only other thing I can suggest is a bird bath so they have a source of water and dont go looking for water in your veggies also pick them before they are ripe and ripen them off on your window sill

Rex - have you tried hanging or laying old c.ds around the garden? - I have heard of people doing that before - haven't tried it yet though...

Another 2 beefsteaks eaten by the birds - they can sure move fast. I watered the garden about 7.30am and when I went back about 9.30 2 had been 3/4 eaten.  Any suggestions ?  I dont want to use netting. Anyone used any other means to keep them away or distracted?

Just made 3 litres of pasta sauce - tomatoes, onions, capsicums, zucchini, mushrooms, garlic, basil mint and rosemary. The smell is divine! Feeling pretty chuffed with myself in my lovely butterfly apron :)

Amazing tomatoes - so nice to see them doing so well.  My sub-arctics from Matt have done ok this season, but the birds seem to be pretty partial to one plant.  Other varieties have sucumbed to blight, so are about to be ripped out sadly.

Excellent and I don't think I have any of those growing

What I planted was Koanga Yellow Yummy, Small sweet orange, low acid, american ted Terry. Eco Beef Steak and Roma. Plus some others Kali and Hester sent me. It's all a bit of a magical Msytery tour of tomatoes.

Clockwise from left - Hearty Red, Black from Tula, unripe Pink Calabash, Black Krim, Marist Brothers, Green Sausage, Dwarf variety, Green Salad - middle tomato is Beefsteak
