I'm currently ripping out agapanthus. What's the best way to get rid of the corms so that they don't resprout? I have kilos and kilos of them.

Also cannas available. Salmon-coloured flowers and deep red/mahogany leaves.

I sow and plant beetroot all year round on waiheke. i like the cylindrical variety and 'bulls blood' for dark red leaves.

Hi Mike Beetroot can be planted this month in Auckland and warm areas take a look at my group what to do this month for monthly sugestions of garden chores as well as a list of flowers and veg seeds/seedlings to plant each month

Thanks for that, I'll put a reminder in my calendar to prune olive tree early spring. Cheers.

Can someone give me advice on Beetroot?

I would like to plant some now, but I've read conflicting stuff on when to plant. I'm in Auckland (Pakuranga) and have a raised vegie bed with very good compost/soil.
Should I give it a go? any variety recommendations? or seed brand?

Cheers.

Hi Mike Yes Olive trees can and should be pruned to tidy them up prune out some of the inside branches and any branch that could rub another branch once the inside branches are pruned for airation then clip any branches that look out of place or make the tree look untidy your major pruneing jobs should be left until late winter/early spring when the trees groth has slowed

Does one prune olive trees? I have one a few years old in my back yard. Its a bit scraggily. Should I prune it?

Hi, I have literally dozens of self-set black cherry tomato seedlings cropping up, for anyone with a greenhouse. Also lots of bamboo stakes.

The other thing we have is good volcanic topsoil and volcanic rocks (bluestone/basalt).  If you'd like some please message me on my page.  You will need a trailer and a wheelbarrow.  I am in Mt Albert.
