  • Hi Ken, That would be awesome...I have changed the start date of the market, to September. This way I can get more people interested! Please keep in touch!
  • Sounds like a great idea. I haven't anything to bring along at this time of the year, but I would be interested to check out what organic stuff might turn up. We could be interested in selling some produce in Summer, though
  • A new farmers market is starting in Greerton with the support of Greerton Mainstreet, and we would love your support too!

The market will be happening on Wednesday’s from 4-6pm from the 1st June 2011. We will be in a covered facility with winter upon us (the Greerton Community Hall) and during summer we will be in the village square. We welcome local growers of fruit and vegetables, meat producers and curers, cheese producers, bakers, and other local businesses that produce food to come and join in. Please forward this email to anyone that may be interested.

We have some great things that are going to happen like local chef’s with cooking demonstrations and Ooooby inspired vegetable stall...more information to come!!! This is a chance to look after the people we have in our own communities and that is our aim here, both nutritionally as well as financially!

    We have three basic rules:

    1) A Farmers' Market is a food only market (e.g. no arts, craft,
    bric-a-brac)

    (2) This food is produced within a defined local area (100 miles (160km) radius from the market place)

    (3) The vendor must be directly involved in the growing or production process of the food (e.g. no middle men, wholesalers, retailers)

    What we need:

We need to get a selection of local producers

We need people to support us

What we will do in return:

We will advertise regularly through local newspapers, websites (like Greerton Mainstreet), and facebook. We will have a website and an email address that is dedicated to The Village Farmers Market that people can use to contact us. I will be availablevia phone on 543 4035 for any enquiries.

We are really excited about giving the opportunity
to all local growers, and new businesses to see us as a place of destination
for great quality fresh fruit and vegetables and with your help we can
accomplish that. If you can help us in any way please don’t hesitate to contact
    me directly.
