Lets work and of course lets share a couple of drinks to boost good ideas.

The best bet is put cheap irrigation hoses and a sort of dripper or something like that.
If not just a hose and a person watering it, 12 trees is not a big deal, especially if you cannot put a timer anyway. If the trees are well mulched, it will need to be watered just 2 times per week in summer and even less than that. Will take few minutes.
To be honest, I prefer the hose only, is going to be easier, cheaper and reliable, unless you can put a timer or if they are more trees.
This is such a good idea. It looks a lot like the Permablitz idea from across the ditch. I love the idea of the permaculture focus as well. Its great that people are willing to work on neglected resources; bringing something back is a better idea than always just starting something new.
One thing I would be interested in is a slightly less strenuous form where those with some skills might help budding and existing gardeners put together their plan as well.
I'm happy to do the work, it is my gym anyway, but sometimes I spend a long time trying to figure out what I could be doing with this or that area and a brains trust of enthusiasts would be a nice social addition.
I'll try to make the Waimauku event, need to confirm a couple of visitors.
