I am gobsmacked that our supermarkets can charge $14.99/kg for feijoa, when growers only receive $3/kg. This mark up is outrageous; and the fruit when it gets to the shelves, is appalling (as a grower I'd suggest over a week old). This year, growers are being told that thesmall fruit has flooded the market as a result of the drought and they can conveniently charge high prices to the consumer for med to large. The grower is not being equivalently compensated for that price rise. The supermarkets and the marketing companies are ripping everyone off! Rant over. If you want fruit at reasonable prices buy from the farm gate.
