I've been building a hen house as I have always wanted some hens to lay fresh eggs for me, and to keep as pets. Plus the more food I can grow myself the better from a sustainability point of view. Spurred on by a project for my uni sustainability education paper I have eventually got round to making my dream come true with the help of my flatmate Amy, her brother and mum (who live two doors up), my landlord and family who live next door and of course my partner Brad - thanks to you all for your help. Thanks also to Wynne for the wood donation that added well to the wood we salvaged from under our 3 neighbouring houses. The house and run is pretty much finally complete now - just a perch to go inside, and of course sorting food, bedding and water. We are hoping once they are used to their new home we can sometimes move the run away and let them explore the garden too. Just need to rescue some hens now. Exciting!
