Orpington-Wyandotte Hilton

My new chicken house and run. The units are portable and will fit over our vege garden beds. There is another run the same as this one. It can be attached at the other side of the house or will be able to extend the first run.

It's not quite finished yet-still needs handles for moving it, a few catches, another couple of openings for the 2nd run which isn't netted yet.

My husband, Gary, buillt it for my birthday. We ended up using mostly new materials with the surmise that it will last for many years. The roofing material is recycled and so was the wood for the perches and ladder grips. It started out costing about $250 but we bought more materials as we thought of new features while the work was in progress so it ended up being more like $350.
We looked at plans on the internet and in library books. I researched chickens housing needs and between us we came up with this complex. Gary drew up the original plan and we modified it, as we thought of improvements, during the building process.
The henhouse has an upstairs roosting area with a removable floor and perch. The roof opens. There are 2 nest boxes at the end with access from outside for cleaning and egg collecting.

This is brilliant. Who built it and what did it cost?
