"It's red clover. I bought them as sprouting seeds from the local organic shop and scattered them around what will soon be my chicken pen, thinking they'd look like the usual red clover you see in every paddock. I was nicely surprised."

- I'm breaking in a patch which has been left for many years.
Influences: Fukuoka, Bill Mollison, BioDynamics. Trying to combine elements of all these disciplines, though not very disciplined myself.
Growing beans, peas, lettuce, rocket, spinach beet (some of it transplanted from Haumoana beach), borage, red clover, pumpkin, herbs, Jerusalem artichoke, elephant garlic, self sown spuds, and perennial favourites puha, dandelion, chickweed, etc. Sprouting some "Hopi" corn, tomatoes, more spinach beet, peppers, purple and gold kumara.
Quite good to write it all down; I've got more going than I thought I had.
I'm following Fukuoka's idea that a man working with hand-tools is the most energy efficient method for growing food.
