Dave Nicholls replied to Brigid's discussion Roma tomatoes in the group Food Growing Q&A
"Hi Brigid You could probably leave them if they look happy.  Taking out laterals drives more energy into the fruit, but also reduces the surface area of food-generating foliage.  (It also 'wounds' the plant and makes it more…"

We've had an organic garden in England for years and have rented in Devonport for 10 years. This year, we're hoping to move to our own quarter acre paradise. I love organic gardening and have a passion for permaculture and would look to design my own permaculture town garden.

Hi Dave, how is your garden building going. My garden is a complete tip at the moment, I fell off my horse a couple of weeeks ago and am still having trouble walking and cannot lift anything heavy (think I may hava a small fracture of bum bone, whatever it's called)  I have my son to garden tomorrow so that will help.  I was going to dig up a pile of poos at pony club a couple of weeks ago and before i could lay claim to any some guys came along and removed it all to who knows where with a big digger. so we'll have to wait till stocks replenish themselves again, but that won't take long at a wheel barrow ful of poos each day per horse.  I'm not planting any more veges til next spring, I need a break and I need to weed out less successful roses so I have more room for fruit and veg.  My new plan is maybe an aviary, but those darned birds sure are noisy.  See you. Fi.

Hi Dave, this whole internet networking thing is a bit new to me - this is officially the first site I have joined - have been avoiding Facebook and ilk. Finally feel suitably anonymous, and I have put up a photo album. Not sure how to invite you to view it so consider this an invitation.
