"Hi Caleb, the Koanga Institute used to have them. Otherwise I've still got some seeds left from when I tried Silver Platinum a number of years ago that you'd be welcome to. It didn't grow too well here in Christchurch, so I…"
"Hi, just wondering if anyone knows where or if I can get plants or seeds for hardy passionfruit ( eg. Incarnata or Caerulea). Does anyone have experience with growing passionfruit in the colder parts of NZ?"
"Since we didn't make it last Sunday, how about meeting up tomorrow about 3 to 3.30pm? Just come by if you can make it and feel like coming. If you want to come but haven't got my address yet send me a message."
Thanks for that, that's very helpful. We've been visiting a friend's farm on and off for a number of years to shoot rabbits and happened about a couple of possums as well when we were spotlighting at night last time we…"
"Thanks for the Tigerellas, Mariana, they've already got their spot in the garden and thanks for the contacts too.
How about the 23rd of November for a meet-up in my garden, just as a suggestion to get things going? I'm in Mairehau. The…"
"For the people who are going to the Expo, should we make a time and/or place to meet up? Alternatively, I'd be quite happy to offer our garden as a place for a first gathering, just give me a couple of weeks to get sorted and try and get on top…"
"Great to see such a reaction :-) I didn't know about the Edible Expo either and I'm keen to go as well. I also like the idea of regular meet-ups. Thanks for all the offers for tomato seedlings as well. Tigerella are one of our usual…"
"Yes, it seems like I'm the only user :-P. I've started to be too embarrassed to put up any more posts. Is everyone using another group? If someone is reading this, I am actually looking for some tomato seedlings, since I was away during…"
We are relatively new home and garden owners and are working towards making our house warmer and more energy efficient (mainly my partner) and transforming the garden to grow more of our own food (mainly me). There is a lot to learn, but it's fun and rewarding. I also own two chickens who are very useful both for eggs and entertainment.
I'd be interested in exchanging poultry sitting services, if there is a chicken owner nearby, and in swapping food and seeds - I have a mild seed addiction. We both hold firearms licenses and are always on the lookout for a chance to shoot some rabbits for the pot.

hello Hanna, have you taken a look around building reclamation yards for clay chimney pipes? They'd be more than wide enough to cover several witloof plants - I have one that I use to force rhubarb & put a tile over the top.
Hi Hanna, I have little angelica seedlings popping up today :)
I saw your question about covering your greenhouse, we bought some of this stuff http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=542540182 the sellers would cut to any size, although you might have to ask as they don't have this listed at the moment, they have other things also that could do the job. we found it cheaper than mitre 10 and this particular stuff was good because it can be nailed down.
Hi Hanna, I noticed your comment about the food bill. Scares me to. There is a bit of information about it on the 'self sufficiency' group under 'can a community legaly be self sufficient?' just thought you might like to know :)
Re warming your house, sounds like you could do with the services of an Eco Design Advisor, Chch appointed one 1st July see http://www.ecodesignadvisor.org.nz/plan-reviews/ I've found the one in Hamilton really helpful, runs courses as well as one-to-one consults.
