Hooray, we're getting some really good rain right now, and oh boy do we need it. The only thing is - the Ellerslie Flower Show is on right now not far from us and with the earlier torrential rain will have suffered a deal of damage to the outdoor garden displays.

Hi jean,i'm still feeling my way around here so please don't think ive been rude for not responding to you but i have only just see your email.
I live at Medbury near the Hurunui pub, an area that has good winter frosts but is one of the hottest places in the country in summer,it makes gardening here a real challenge.

Hello Jean
I wonder if your area isn't good for growing onions. I say this because we are real onion aficionados - eat them every day and grow many different kinds, which I buy as seeds from Kings, Egmont, Yates, and everything grows, here in the Hokianga. Are your neighbours growing onions (and garlic and leeks) successfully? Let us know.
