Hello Waihekean person,

If you're interested there are still a few subscriptions available for the first season of the fledgling Waiheke CSA (Waiheke Community Supported Agriculture).

First produce expected in early Jan so you've not missed out on anything yet.

Could be a great thing for the island over the coming years!

Website has some more info.

Hi Ken as with Kali I am interested in your beehive, the design and how it works - we are planning on having a hive in the future so any advice gratefully received.

HI Ken,

wondered if you might be willing to graph my 2m high avocado tree... it's sprouted years ago from my compost heap.. and very healthy.. but now need someone to come graph it... it's the one you took cuttings from. I have seeds i could exchange you for?
I will give you a ring.. IF you don;t get this note here.
thanks g.

Hi Ken, you noted an heirloom garlic stalk in full bloom in my garden a while back... we tried to gather the seed with not much luck. I discovered four new garlic plants happening next to the original seeded one.. So, at next harvest I will try again for the seeds. I'm so pleased to have them again!! Do you recall the name of this particular garlic which you thought was very difficult to get in NZ? gabriella

hi ken, Just to let you know.. it turns out i did in fact take out the cloves, when i snipped off the seed heads of those special garlic you pointed out to me. I have about nine large cloves, and a small golf sized one as well. How should i best store them.. they are showing some greenish tint at this point. Still waiting for the seed head to drop their tiny seeds!! thanks gabriellaaa

Timing is everything...

We go away for 10 days in January, so I try hard to arrange things in the garden so that there is not too much of a glut around this time. Mixed results at the moment - the climbing beans are climbing fast but no flowers yet, so that's good; the tomatoes have a few just starting to ripen but not many, good; cucumber growing but only flowers at present, good; celery regenerating as we pick it; BUT, the courgette is going nuts as are the lettuces. Parsley and spinach are going to seed. I'm thinkin…
