"Hi : Re : freezing feijoas for winemaking. Yes, we always freeze, as when water freezes, it expands 10%, rupturing the cell structure, making juice extraction easier, and more efficient. Will soon trial some green walnuts, for Nocino. Cheers, Dennis."

"Hi Lyn - in response to your question about if frozen feijoas will be suitable for making wine (Sorry, can't find your original message on here anywhere): Short answer - yes. Long answer - I have made wine from frozen guavas (the small type…"

"Are there any plans to hold a top bar intro course/workshop near Rotorua in the forseeable future? Depending on when it is scheduled for I could probably travel some way to attend one. I would consider going to Auckland for it."

Plum tree cuttings

A couple of weeks ago I took some plum tree cuttings - decent size, older wood.  For various reasons I have not yet been able to do anything with them.  Does anyone know how long you can keep cuttings before they are not useful anymore?  Or have suggestions to increase my strike rate? I plan on potting them this weekend and seeing what happens.
