"Your problem is that your compost bin is stinky. There can be many reasons for that, besides the one you're mentioning. This being said, I'll focus only on nitrogen excess. In fact, nitrogen is in very small amounts is the kitchen scraps…"

Glacial acetic acid - Cheapest in Chch?

Hello guys,Where is the cheapest glacial acetic acid I can find in Chch?I am happy with 50ml or less, but haven't found so far. Pharmacies sell 100mL in the 20$-30$ range, affordable, but a rip-off nonetheless for the basic chemical it is.Cheers!See More

Anyone in Christchurch happy to give away some tiger worms?

Hi all, I just rescued about 120g of tiger worms (~500 of these amazing fellows) from a neglected worm farm and set up a nice home for them. We still need about ~560g to reach the 680g target, as we sustainably produce 340g of kitchen waste daily. If you have "excess" worms or just want to give away some of them to contribute to a new farm, that would be fantastic. There are very affordable ones on TradeMe but I am not completely comfortable buying anything animal and living, unless there is no…See More

""Thanks Pete for the worms, you're awesome. There were 120 grams of them, not bad at all, and they're going to be very happy now with 340g of scraps a day :) I just need to find ~500 more grams of them, on the hunt now!""

Has anyone got worms (i.e. red wigglers) to give away?

Hi,I've got everything ready to start a worm bin, only "thing" left are..the fantastic worms. Wondering if there's someone out there running a worm composting bin with red wigglers (or the likes) and happy to give away even a few. I don't mind starting with just a handful and less than the target amount and letting them increase their population to sustainable numbers.Drop me a private message to respond, that will forward to my personal email, as I check Ooooby very seldom at this point.…See More
