kiwi brown replied to kim's discussion Treating wood? in the group Organic Gardening For Beginners
"Hi Kim, Your raised beds made from Macrocarpa planks will be safe except where sap wood is used (sometimes along edge).  My husband cut down Mac's, we milled them and built our home from them.  Beautiful wood too.  More to the…"

Diane SQ replied to kim's discussion Treating wood? in the group Organic Gardening For Beginners
"HI Kim, depending on the site conditions , height of bed, etc...untreated hardwood, such as railway sleepers should last some time. If you have a very dry site in summer, you do not want your bed to be raised too much, because humidity is in the…"

Learn from my mistakes

Gardening can be trial and error and many of us may have tried plantings etc, that had unforseen less than desirable consequences that we can inform others about.

Thank you for the travel tips. Malaysia sounds lovely. Its started getting colder here (sorry) so it will be nice to feel the hot sun again! Dont think it will be possible to grow bananas or papaya here, at least not without a very big greenhouse. Its a shame as I love papaya, and lady's fingers which are very difficult to buy here.

Can you tell me more about rachel ward? I havent come across her work. I googled her but it came up with some actress!

Hope you are well,
Kim
