"Oh! Thanks Megan, now you said they are scapes I can see they probably are. My whole garden this yr is in pots (broken wrist) and the garlic looks too tall and scapes too round. I shall cut them off. Didn't know that about…"
"I had slow growing garlic too then about a month ago, lots of growth....surprise, now the stinkers are shooting up with seed heads instead of forming bulbs. We had rain all winter but don't know what caused this. I thought…"
"I got some from nursery plants but don't think it has survived here. Lots of interesting stuff on web re it. Here is a page from Rae Roadley site which I copied so you could see what is used to kill it:

"You are very funny Rex! How do you know the slugs won with the election....by their choice of eating your lettuce? Well, they may also need the beer if they lost election choice, eh? *<(:+)!!
We are making great progress…"
"Perhaps you could put the seedlings in a "mote", Rex! I've done it with ants before, especially when they discover animal food dishes. Have used a mote with slugs and they don't like salt water at all!!

Some have a hard time with the salty harsh winds we get even though we have shelter cloth up. Garden is on a flat (not to many of those here either) so in the process of making low raised beds after the wet winter we've had. We are long time gardeners but there is always plenty to learn.
