Experience and Qualifications
Lots of years in the garden
I am interested in...
Learning, Preserving, Helping Others, Seed Savers, Gardening on others Land
Tell us about your garden and what you're growing
building a pond to grow watercress at the moment and a herb garden in its infancy. just finishing up summer crops now
totally taken by some of the permaculture ideas.
i endeavour to eat all my food from the garden which means i'm pretty skinny :)

i'm also a big fan of rudolf steiner and the biodynamic principles, although it seems the real knowledge has died with him, noone really seems to be able to explain the techniques in a more elaborate way than is explained in the original lectures.
which has made the whole technique become shrouded in un-necessary mystery, although i suppose almost anything based on astrology will be laughed at by science.

i'm really keen on practicing some large scale idea's and i do know people with large amounts of land but they are incredibly closed minded and can't seem to be able to understand even the most basic principles. I try but because alot of my ideas aren't found in garden books, i can't be trusted.
i believe the only way forward is to compile good simple information which is universally accepted out into the mainstream so that we can all just get on with it!

i have a garden blog that i've been working on

We are just pleased to have some of the manure moved off site - unless you have acess to grapefruit?! But really it's no big deal.... it's all in the pay-it-forwards isn't it? Let me know when is a good time for you - the paddock is in Chartwell ( on the way to the WIlton substation) but you need a key to get in - which I have! I can do weekends or during school hours ( between 9.15 and 2.30 - most days) You will need to bring bags ( or I have a few old horse feed bags if you don't have any...) and a small shovel, and gloves - the best system seems to be to have a plastic box ( or if you have and can easily transport it, a wheelbarrow - I don't) which you line with your bag - fill as full as you can ( and still move it) - take it to the car, put the bag in the car, reline the box with a new bag, repeat the process until you have as much as you want/need..... Let me know when suits you, and I can arrange to meet you at the gate and let you in - I will help you fill your bags, or may well be filling some of my own, or feeding horses, depends a bit....there is space to turn your vehicle without it getting stuck, but it is MUDDY, and basically farm-like - gumboots are the BEST footwear - yes, really - especially if it has been raining a bit! there are several options for where to collect - when I know whether, for example, you plan to bring a wheelbarrow, or have a fourwheel drive (or not) we can plan accordingly....Regards, Nikolien

well I was interested in it as a culinary plant, didn't know about its soap making properties, it might even grow around here then, I live by the beach, but I wouldn't recognise it.

Hi Steve, nice of you get in touch about he solasoda seeds, they have lots of different names apparently, Jamie featured it ages ago on his show and I happened upon it on another site, would be good if you can spot it there, is it cultivated or wild?
