Boiled spuds

Hens refused the boiled potato, carrot and pumpkin I gave them. They seem to prefer ripe fruit and soft green veg so I thought it was worth trying. Anyone managed to grow their own chook forage?

They love corn, scratching in the compost pile, will eat cooked chokos.  I would try cooking up the veg and mixing a bit of mash in with it.  I also often add some molasses or cod liver oil  especially in winter. See if they get used to it like that.  They often don't like a quick change. 

Their favourite greens are silver beet (mine are just stalks where they have found it) and miners lettuce which they seem to like even more than silverbeet.
