[Suburban Micro Food Forest]

I originally planned the hen house to be on the left end of the fence, but when I felt how hot the compost was I had a permaculture insight - put the house next to the compost bin and feed them straight onto the compost. If theyre cold they can sit on it at night. Modified design is a 2 room apartment - bedroom and nursery in one room - dining room and toilet in the other and I dont have to clean up their mess - uneaten food and poop go straight in to compost. One sheet of ply serves as a roof for the house and compost bin. Later I will add a fenced run to the rear with a ladder to the house. Location is hidden from one neighbour by their garage and the other by their trees. Front is North facing and shielded from prevailing wet Southwesterly winds and afternoon sun.
