I got the pruning contractors to drop off a fresh supply of mulch - enough to cover the whole forest to a depth of 10cm. Im now sourcing grass clippings to add nitrogen. The first years sheet mulching seems to have worked as there is now a layer of black humus everywhere and plenty of worms. Fukuoka maintained that compost making is unnecesary work and may even be counterproductive. Where is the scientific research on compost?
