I enjoyed an enthusiastic skype call with Kate Swatridge (second from left) this morning. I met Kate while I was in London last year. Kate is a champion of local food and is a founder of the Food Up Front movement. One of the Food Up Front initiatives is the 'One Pot Pledge'. This is a fabulous idea which has been picked up by Garden Organic and is being promoted here through the London Bridge Pret A Manger cafe.

The One Pot Pledge is all about getting 30,000 newbies to give food growing a go. What I love most about the initiative is that they are using used disposable coffee cups as the pots. Double whammy. Recycling the cups and growing some food. Nice work Kate and team!

Not a silly question. And I think Starbucks cups would be fine.

Ok somewhat random -and possibly silly/stupid- question, do you think you could grow seedlings in Starbucks cups or other paper cups?
... I am guessing it depends on the chemicals they use to create them though?
