Hi Vivien these things happen. If at some stage you could still drop it into my daughters address that they be great, Door step will be fine, she will be coming down to see me soon and I am sure she can keep it alive ( she is not a gardener at all. lol)

Hi Vivien. If you are able to drop it off to 32 Field Terrace, Riccarton, Christchurch. Anything between now and 17 February. If no one is at home just leave it on the back door. I've grown avacados from seed several times. Usually I balance them in a shot glass, and grow in water- they don't take that long to cast roots- a few months? I have one at the moment that is a year old and getting towards a matre tall! As far as fruiting goes I don't know what your chances are from seed- they need others around for pollination I think, and I'm pretty sure most fruiting varieties are grafted in commercial propagation. A lovely tree in their own right though!
