Hello, again! No, I haven't heard of them - tree collards - either, but nice to catch up with you. Your garden is going ahead in leaps and bounds. Well done!

Hello Fi, I can't offer tree collard cuttings, I'd never heard of the plant till I saw your post this morning, and so I've looked them up and now know something about them. I'm writing to ask if you know whether they are in NZ. If they are, my interest would be in their use as a summer vegetable ie do they have any resistance to white butterflies. Currently I don't grow any brassicas in summer since they only become food for those green caterpillars.
Oh Thanks Fi I will contact you next week just interested in a few plants to see how they go around the fuit trees we will be back on the island by Wednesday Thanks Kiri

Hi Fi.
Would love to come and see the progress. Katherine has just given birth to our new little boy, so we're a bit homebound at the moment, but I will make it out there soon.
Hi Fi and Steve. I'm not sure where you can get Early Girl tomato seed but my plant came from The Warehouse. Here in napier they are selling them off very cheap this week as they are getting potbound. If you can get one like that and plant it out or put it in a bigger pot it should be fine. As it is a hybrid type any seed saved would not be true to type so it can only be purchased or bought as a plant. I just recently found out that Monsanto now own the patent for this seed, which is a trifle disturbing to me.
Wow connections everywhere.... our family grew up on waiheke, last seen in the houseboats on the way to rocky bay lol. if you are ever up this way please drop in and see YOUR labour of loves. we are not really following any dogma just working hard and having a go and loving it...still organic and still trying to be self sustainable... did buy some hay the other day tho.
Hi You are more than welcome, there are also some Youtube ones I can load about Dolly.
Do you grow "bio intensive"? I am trying to write a doc based on spin farming, biointensive and urban market gardening trying to get more reliabilty of suppy for the Grey Lynn Ooooby store. Would you mind adding to it in a discussion as time goes on, just about your experiances etc
hi fi, 6640 is my number, the bath is still on offer but when we moved it last week part of the rim shattered, still fine for worms but does have some sharp bits, sun no good for me but happy to input on a strategy
I've been meaning to talk to you about potatoes - I'm struggling to find enough suitable space here to put in enough main crop ones so that I have enough to store for our family. I wondered about some arrangement with you guys - if you are thinking of putting in excess (or could...) then I'd be keen to purchase some off you - or barter for wine, eggs, or pumpkins or melons perhaps? We could also come over and help out with planting or whatever? Let me know.... :) Christy
Hi Fi, sorry no plants. The ones I have you have to order in advance. I was not successful growing cuttings. I do have dentata which does ok from cuttings.

Still have your babaco and pasionfruit here - also can you call me (I don't have your phone number) - I want to talk to you about my excess male ducks :)
Hope all's well. I have your babaco here. Let me know if you're coming over to Oneroa in the next few days... we're away from 23 - 26 December but I'll be back after that.

Hurricane (wick lanterns) are pretty useless, what did you want it for? I can recommend a pressure lantern over hurricane.

I've just googled and found that Bristol Seeds had some Early Girl seed in July. Don't appear to be on their shop list now but you could ask them

I think it was to ask about your biointensive gardening, or about spin farming etc.
I am trying to put together a doc for ooooby store growers, and wanted to connect with people that are growing lot of food.
