We live a little off the suburban highway. In fact we're half an hour off the highway. 500m above sea level, in a cool climate, so it's hard to grow yummy summer food. The garden is full of leafy greens and some carrots and brassicas. We have a glasshouse full of tomatoes and a lemon tree (essential for G&Ts) and hopeful apple trees. The chooks do their bit to supply compost and eggs.
Welcome to Ooooby! Wow! Were you really still using the twin tub and wringer system!! It must be really awesome to have the whole auto wash experience going on then.
Most years, summer temperatures can get up to 28C and even the low 30's but it's a really short growing season. This year has been exceptionally cold and wet, would have loved to have had a greenhouse! I'm still a beginner and learning as I go along but definitely been bitten by the food growing bug!
welcome Dinah, it sounds as though you have similar growing challenges to those we face in Queenstown. Would love to see some photos of your garden. Happy oooobying!
