I purchased a blood orange two years ago while still living in Howick and put it in a large pot. I have feed it and kept it moist and it is laden with fruit. They are now ready and I cannot wait to pick on of the fruit and try it. Once my orchard/vege garden is built I will transplant it into the ground. But meanwhile it is thriving.
Blood oranges are everywhere in Spain and they are exported to the UK where they are very popular.
The proof of the pudding will be in the eating so I hope they are as good as they look.
I also have a limequat laden with fruit which is also in a pot. Limequats are a cross between a lime and a cumquat and have loads of small yellow fruit. Last year I preserved the fruit with salt to use as preserved limes for tagines. Lemons are more successful so this year I am using the fruit with my gins.

Sandy - it's lovely of you to share your story. Thank you. We probably have lots of ideas in common. Hope to see you soon - I believe Helen is going to organise a group meeting, and mean while I'm applying for any job that sounds remotely do-able! Ursula.
