our little republic has 9 citizens: 5 chickens, 1 cat, and 3 people. we are currently creating a garden that we hope to nourish and nurture our family- naturally it is organic, and follows principles of permaculture design. we've planted apples, pear, nectarines, fig and an apricot, all of which are espaliers. although our climate might not allow it today i planted a tamarillo... we hope to next autumn plant some nuts.

  • Hi there Bec, your friend George Stanley has suggested that you might be interested in hosting a Dirt Doctor workshop at your property? Please send us an e-mail if you are as we're planning to come down that way at the end of March jacob@dirtdoctor.co.nz

    Cheers!

  • Thanks so much for the warm welcome bec. Yep Dad was an interesting character. He took the Govt to task over all peoples rights to eat and survive freely from the oceans resources and turned a portion of our land up North into a community garden, safe guarded as a Charitable Trust. Folks just go there and work for the share enjoyment of it (no wages) and come harvest time - the fruit of the land is available for distribution, the fish is smoked and distributed - koha(exchange) or tohutohu (free distribution) is the underlying philosophy.(and allowing humanity to eat freely from the earth and ocean). So simple aye?
