  HI there Catherine, there is a seed saving group on here somewhere to ask your broccoli seed question, it does take a while for the seed pods to fatten, and  then another while for them to brown off and dry ready to harvest, will be mid summer by then probably! you would need several plants to get good cross-pollination, they are not self fertile, and then they can cross with other brassicas! see here xpert seed saving .
