Day one covers the principles behind biological farming, how to make a profitable shift, supporting plant and animal health. The role of different minerals in plant nutrition, teaming with microbes –the major biological groups, what they do for soils/plants and how to promote them – we’ll have a look at some different samples under a microscope – so bring a soil/compost sample.
Day 2 – Weeds, pests and disease as indicators for soil imbalance – out in the field, diagnosis of imbalances and how to correct them.
The important of soil carbon/humus and techniques to build it. Monitoring tools to determine fertiliser effectiveness; pH, EC and Brix. Foliars, and free choice minerals, application tips. Fertiliser basics, with some specific recipes for discussion.
