Event Description

One of the 10 visionary New Zealanders featured in the full-length documentary film Earth Whisperers/Papatuanuku is “Dirt Doctor” founder Jim O’Gorman.

“These people are ‘big picture’ visionaries happy to share their stories,” director Kathleen Gallagher explains. “They have hope while still being realistic. Even in the city, people can have a little native forest and community garden – the connection with the earth is not inaccessible.”

Jim designed his small farm holding in Kakanui, North Otago, based on creating a versatile model for making the most from limited resources. Without electricity, and with little more than what was already growing on-site, Jim has converted his once thistle-covered property into a productive one-man-farm.

For the first time in Auckland, Jim will be holding a weekend of full-day workshops with special guest landscape designer Carl Pickens of One Earth Matters.

Please scroll all the way down for full details of each workshop.
