This Internship program is a full time program for those wishing to get experience in designing and constructing light earth housing and associated appropriate technologies for self-reliance and healthy simple living. This program is focused on natural building and appropriate technology and will cover low-cost and low-energy building techniques which are suited to New Zealand's conditions, available materials and building regulations. You will learn about passive heating and cooling, electricity generation, rocket stoves and solar systems for heating and cooking, design of non-electric fridges, washing machines, composting toilets and grey water systems.
The internship begins with a seven day workshop teaching the basics of natural building and appropriate technology. After that you will be paired with a mentor and working on projects in Kotare Village.
Please note that we are only accepting 8-10 interns and all applicants must have completed a Permaculture Design Course.
