Thanks Jacee, they were very yummy :) Have only discovered them since moving south. Ate lots fresh and eating the preserved ones with my cereal. In the unlikely event that you don't already have any growing in your orchard, pm your address to me if you'd like some stones.

Thanks Megan, I wasn't sure what kind of peach was suitable for peach jelly but glad you've told me now.  I have to say, I've not heard of 'defluffing'...is it like taking the fluff off the peach? Silly question?

aren't we lucky to have good friends :) I've bottled them already - four 700ml jars worth. These are free stone peaches so not worth making jelly from - our frugal mums & grans used the pits and peel from clingstones like the golden queens for jelly. My mum never bothered peeling the peaches, she had four children on defluffing duty - a pile of salt and a bucket of water and the chooks pecked off what was left on the stones. If you have the patience, happy to send you some stones, got a couple of dozen that will go into the compost otherwise. Just PM me your address.
