We tried growing kumara one year, and harvested 19 kg, though some of that was worm-ridden and thrown out. Ate most of it. A decent backyard yield off two or three seed kumara we bought at the supermarket.

Hey Mariana,

We filled a box with sand and put some kumara in, and kept them damp. They sprouted in there, so you get several plants off each kumara. You can cut each one into pieces, trying to get some shoot and some root ideally in each piece. They say Labour weekend for planting out, but perhaps you can find local advice for what works best. We had a slope that was poor fairly hard soil that we bombed with compost. The plants take up heaps of room!
