Changes in the garden - OCT 2011

Our spring garden project... 3 days of hard slog, moving the old large garden up hill slightly (for better drainage) and making three small plots, that will equal slightly more area than we had. We rotary hoed the base with gysum to help break up clay. Boxed up the borders to help level them out on the slope. Then spread a layer of broad bean plants from the old patch once the broad beans had been harvested. We also moved what good topsoil we could, added compost from our own bins, and bags…

December 2010

been a long time since I posted anything!

Garden going well, filled filled areas with extra compost as we pulled the winter items out and started planting summer stuff. At present the courgettes are growing in front of my eyes, and peas/beans/tomatoes are stating to fruit. We have had loads of radishes and rocket, yum!…

Summer Garden update - JAN 2010

- we ate silverbeet like there was no tomorrow, just ditched the last plant a couple of weeks ago.

- discovered rocket is really easy to grow and is yum too! plants are just starting to flower now, but still harvesting big bunches each day, hope to grow another crop.

- harvested potatoes recently, and planted another small bed.

winter garden update - JUNE 2009

hmmm so about time for a bit of an update!

Several weeks ago, we mulched with grass clippings and crumbled "Pony Poo" on the surface around the veges in the vege patch (50c a bag from the nearby pony club)

Everthing GREW... big...

- Radishes are large and busrting their skins, but not all that spicey. Rather tasty in a stir fry and helps to use them all up.
