Hi Cynthia,
I live in Cygnet and have just found Ooooby. I have joined Sarah's Tasmania group. How wonderful to find this lovely website. I am organising something for World Kitchen Garden Day on August 22nd...... a day for celebrating growing our own food. We are going to walk around and visit a few home gardens then have a BBQ in the community garden. You are very welcome to come or to organise a celebration of your own.
Looking forward to being a part of Ooooby. Kate

Hi :) sounds like lovely chaos to me! I too am interested in sustainable kitchen gardening, now that I am back in Tassie I plan to take full advantage of our beautiful environment.

Hi again Cynthia - not sure what happened with the blog, as I do have 1 person successfully registered. Managed to get it on NZ time today.

Haven't added anymore yet. Am in Wellington the next couple of days, so the garden has to wait. Have given the chook house a thorough clean out and painted bits with kerosine in case it was red mite.-( on Sweet Pea) Am now wondering if she has caught a chill. Can't catch her to dust her for mites! Sigh!!

PS delighted to see you are in Tasmania. My Grandfather on my fathers side came from there.

Thanks Cynthia, that photo was taken before the current problem was evident - but she still looks pretty healthy.

She is still quite young - don't know how old, but not due to lay till well into the spring.
She enjoyed a dust bath with the others this afternoon - right in close with them- so that was encouraging. One thing I have noticed, is that on her inside/back toe, she has two claws - and her ankles are quite thick!
My goal is to develop the garden into a permaculture garden, though the design is somewhat varied - hence the girls will play an important part.

Have started a blog today which has some photos from this afternoon -dust bathing.

We have opossum in Texas. I know how they can be :) That's funny your ponies can get in to trouble... I know horses are something to watch because of their sneakiness with their necks.

What's Buzzing?
